CHS Booster Club Meetings Held Regularly

CHS Booster Club Meetings Held Regularly

The CHS Booster Club holds bi-monthly meetings.  Representatives from all sports teams are invited to attend.  Our next meeting will be held on Monday, February 8th at 7:00 PM in room 93.  Future meetings are scheduled for March 8th, May 10th and June 7th.  All meetings are held on Mondays, at 7:00 PM in room 93 unless otherwise noted. 
 
Congratulations to the boys' basketball team.  They have received a winter season booster club grant for $350.  For the spring season we will be accepting applications from spring sports teams.  A form may be obtained by clicking on the "Documents" tab on the left of this window or from Steve Trifone. 

This fall the boys' soccer team was awarded a $1,000 grant and the girls' field hockey team was awarded a $300 grant.  Last year approximately $2,500 in grants were awarded to our sports teams.

The Cheshire High School Athletic Department has partnered with College Showcases America, LLC to offer NoticeME!(tm) for all our student-athletes.  NoticeME!(tm) provides all the student-athletes with assistance in tracking their individual athletic and academic progress as well as provide assistance in the college selection process, whether or not the student-athlete plans on playing sports at the next level.

Spring Sport Physicals - 3/3/10

Reminder - Attention spring athletes!

Spring sport physicals for both male and female athletes will be held on Wednesday, March 3rd at 2:00 PM in the CHS nurse's office.  There is no charge for these physicals. 

No athlete may tryout or participate without a current physical on record in the nurse's office.

Cheshire Football Wins Class LL Title!!

Cheshire football won the State Class LL title Sunday by defeating Staples 28-21 in overtime.  Job well done to the athletes and coaches!

Cheshire Football Defeats Glastonbury - Makes Class LL Final!

The Cheshire football team defeated Glastonbury 20-6 to make it into the class LL final.  The final will be played on Saturday against Staples.  The game's scoring summary follows:

Cheshire Girls' Swim & Dive 4th at Open Meet

On Saturday, 11/21, the Cheshire girls' swim and dive team came in 4th at the Connecticut open meet.  Greenwich won the meet with 624 points, Darien was second with 469 points, New Canaan third with 411 points and Cheshire had 370.5 points.  Kim Jerome captured the 200 IM title with a time of 2:06.64 and also took a second in the 100 breaststroke.  Other top finishers included the 200 medley relay team of Patrell, Jerome, Nguyen and Ptaszynski (3rd), Jennifer Thompson 4th in the 1 meter diving and the 400 freestyle relay team of Barry, Koukos, Jerome, Novak (4th).

Cheshire Girls' Swim & Dive Captures Class LL Title!

The Cheshire girls' swim and dive team captured their 26th class LL title Wednesday night at Southern Connecticut State University.  Greenwich had won the title for the last four years and they were Cheshire's main competition this year.  Cheshire accumulated 875 points to 788.5 points for Greenwich.  All 19 of Cheshire's swimmers that entered the trials qualified for the finals and overwhelmed Greenwich with their numbers.

Cross Country Success at the CT State Open Championship

On Friday, November 6th, the boys' and girls' teams competed in the Connecticut State Open Cross Country Championships.  On the boys' side, junior Sean Mueller came in third out of a field of 183 runners with a time of 16:00.  Sean will be competing in the New England Championships at Wickham Park on November 14th.  Sean was followed by Daniel Harris (78th), Philip Caldwell (88th), Curt Brown (99th), Mike Gozzo (127th) and Ian Thornton (173rd). 

On the girls' side the team finished impressively in 8th place.  Freshman Kathleen Kalbian led the Rams and  finished in 43rd, followed by Julie Hart (57th), Amanda Chang (91st), Tesni Phillips (113th), Sarah Fusco (120th), Victoria Wickenheiser (123rd) and Kristen Samuelson (153rd).  Two hundred and nine runners participated in the girls open race.

Cheshire Girls SCC Playoff Champions in Soccer

On Thursday, November 5th, the Cheshire girls' soccer team played the #1 ranked Hand team to a 0-0 tie to become co-SCC playoff champions.

Cheshire Girls Swimming & Diving Dominate SCC Championship

The Cheshire girls' swimming and diving team captured the SCC Championship with a total of 1272 points.  Their closest competitor, Amity, accumulated 553.5 points.  Cheshire won all three of the relay teams, took first place in 4 events and second in 5 events.

Girls Cross Country Wins SCC Championship!

On October 22nd the Cheshire girls' cross country team became the surprise SCC champions defeating five time champion Guilford by a score of 65-69!  Sixteen teams competed for the title.  The Shelton girls placed third and Madison was fourth.  Cheshire was led by freshman Kathleen Kalbian, 3rd place, and senior Julie Hart, 8th place, who both attained all-SCC status.  Kalbian, Hart, Sarah Fusco, Amanda Chang and Tesni Phillips earned all-Housatonic status.  Cheshire also won the JV and freshmen titles becoming the first team to ever capture all three titles in one meet. Kristen Samuelson led the JV team and Abby Lawlor led the freshmen team.

ImPACT Concussion Management Software

The Cheshire High School Booster Club is proud to announce that they have moved forward with the purchase of the ImPACT Concussion Management Software.  This is a sophisticated research-based software tool developed to help sports medicine clinicians evaluate recovery following the occurrence of a concussion. ImPACT evaluates and documents multiple aspects of neurocognitive functioning including memory, brain processing speed, reaction time, post-concussive symptoms and an injury documentation system.  Team baseline testing has already begun for fall contact sports.
